B.Comm or equivalent NQF level 8 qualification
- An extensive list of qualifications is accepted in order to become a Financial Advisor.
- A number of tertiary institutions offer courses and programs tailored to the financial services industry.

RE5 certification
- Once appointed by a financial institution, the candidate needs to pass the RE5 exam within 24 months of first being appointed in the industry.
- The RE5 exam is written via an institution called Moonstone.

Post-graduate Diploma in Financial Planning
- This one-year qualification is the pre-requisite to being able to write the Certified Financial Planner (CFP) board exam.
- The only tertiary institutions which offer this course is University of Stellenbosch and University of Free State
Certified Financial Planner (CFP) certification
- The CFP designation is world renowned and will give your clients further confidence that they are dealing with a highly capable and skilled Financial Advisor.
- This one-off board exam is written through an institution called the Financial Planning Institute (FPI).
